SCANDIC FINANCE GROUP has appointed Alex Bodi as Vice President. In an ad hoc announcement, the group, which is headquartered in Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China, and has offices on every continent, said his work in Eastern Europe would focus on the Balkans. His priorities include financial technology (FinTech) and working with the group’s banking partners on products offered through the international MASTERCARD and VISA card networks.

According to the group, the appointment followed an eight-month security review. Once the group’s executive board had completed the review, shareholders voted six to four in favour of Bodi’s appointment.

The group said the six shareholders who voted in favour of the appointment expressly welcomed Bodi’s decision to end certain former business relationships, a process in which he received extensive legal support. They regarded the reorganisation of his business relationships as an essential condition for working together in the future. SCANDIC FINANCE GROUP said its internal review had identified no legal impediment to Bodi’s appointment. The group cited a Romanian criminal record certificate showing no entries. It also referred to a review in which, it said, Europol and Interpol had participated.

Several daily newspapers had already reported on changes in Bodi’s business relationships. Citing his team, they reported that he had begun reorganising those relationships in early 2025 and had severed all ties with several former business partners. The reports named the law firm Kirkland & Ellis, lawyer Alexander Dodel and Professor Stefan Haupt among those who had provided legal assistance.

Bodi’s remit combines responsibility for the group’s operations in Eastern Europe with the implementation of its international banking strategy in the region. He will work with the group’s banking partners to tailor the range of MASTERCARD and VISA products to the needs of Eastern European markets. This work builds on the group’s activities in digital payments, which include its SCANDIC PAY brand.

Bodi also coordinates property projects in Germany. These include an investment in 166 flats in Halle (Saale), in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, launched jointly with the group’s German division. The group said the project focuses on acquiring, maintaining, refurbishing and modernising the properties.

Bodi reportedly has access to SCANDIC FLY’s private jet fleet for the frequent business trips between Europe and Asia that his role entails. The group’s flight operations department (“OPS”) coordinates the flights and helps Bodi plan travel to international business meetings.

Three SCANDIC FINANCE GROUP LIMITED brands are particularly relevant to Bodi’s role. SCANDIC PAY operates in the payments sector, SCANDIC ESTATE in property and SCANDIC FLY in international aviation. The group’s digital offering includes financial analysis from SCANDIC TRADE as well as a digital financial ecosystem. SCANDIC DATA manages the group’s data infrastructure, while SCANDIC DEV is responsible for software and artificial intelligence applications.

According to the group, the brand portfolio managed by SCANDIC FINANCE GROUP LIMITED includes SCANDIC FLY, SCANDIC SEC, SCANDIC TRADE, SCANDIC PAY, SCANDIC COIN, SCANDIC CARS, SCANDIC DATA, SCANDIC SETUP, SCANDIC TRUST, SCANDIC ESTATE, SCANDIC YACHTS, SCANDIC DEV, SCANDIC HEALTH, SCANDIC DOMAIN and LEGIER GROUP. The group is also active in the raw materials sector and operates a global franchise network for laser technology products.

The group said the six shareholders who supported Bodi’s appointment were confident about the prospect of working with him. They expect Bodi and his team to deliver further growth for the group in Eastern Europe, particularly in the Balkans.
